3D Printing Helps Silverado Lose 450 Pounds

When the redesigned next generation 2019 Chevrolet Silverado arrives in our showroom later this year, it will have dropped 450 pounds from the previous model year. This is thanks to General Motors’ investment in 3D printing and generative design technologies that generate design options based on goals and parameters set by the user, such as weight, strength, material choice, and fabrication method. Since 2016, GM has dropped more than 5,000 pounds across 14 different vehicles, increasing vehicle efficiency with sacrificing performance or safety.
Chevy Sonic Gets New Engine for 2019
As other automakers drop compact cars and sedans from their lineup, rumors have circulated that the Chevrolet Sonic would depart from the Chevy lineup for the 2019 model year. We are pleased to report that those rumors were false, as Chevrolet has just released the order guide for the 2019 Sonic. The biggest change to the Sonic for 2019 is that optional Turbo 1.4L LUV engine will become standard across all trim levels, bringing 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. The only other changes for 2019 are the addition of a new exterior color called “Shock”
Chevrolet Introduces Performance Package for Suburban

Today Chevrolet announced that they will be bringing the RST Performance Package to the Chevrolet Suburban. First introduced on the Tahoe, the RST Performance Package features a 420-hp, 6.2L V-8 engine, Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration, and a new Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. This is in addition to the already-enhanced appearance of the Suburban RST which features body-color grille surround and door handles, gloss-black grille and mirror caps, and black roof rails, window trim, badging and Chevy bowties.
Chevy Blazer Spotted Testing in Detroit

Years of rumors regarding the return of the Chevrolet Blazer as a midsized crossover utility vehicle are looking more and more likely to come true as a suspected Blazer was recently spotted testing in Detroit. The Blazer is expected to be built on the same platform as the GMC Acadia, and will likely feature a choice of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.6-liter V6, both paired to a new nine-speed automatic transmission. We’ve seen this new vehicle testing for quite a while now, so we should hear soon when it will be joining the Chevy Traverse…
