IIHS Finds That Crash Avoidance Technologies Work

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently studied the effectiveness of optional front crash prevention systems in General Motors vehicles, and we are pleased to report that they found a significant reduction in the number of crashes. Their study found that GM vehicles equipped with safety features like automating braking and forward-collision alerts saw a 43 percent reduction in front-to-rear crashes reported to police and a 64 percent reduction in crashes with injuries. Chevy Cruze Earns Reliability Recommendation

Consumer Reports recently updated their list of vehicles they recommend based on reliability data, and while 12 models lost their recommendation, the Chevrolet Cruze is one of 17 models that gained a new recommendation. Mid-Engine Corvette and C7 Side By Side

The rumor mill has been quiet for a few weeks about the new mid-engine version of the Chevrolet Corvette but we do have a new look at the camouflaged test version side by side with a C7 Corvette. We can see that the front and rear overhang stay about the same, but the hood shortens and rear elongates to accommodate the engine. Along with the engine, air inlets have moved to the rear. As the Chevy  Blazer gets closer to joining the Chevy family of crossover utility vehicles, we’ve just learned that it was chosen for the U.S. Department of Energy’s EcoCAR Mobility Challenge.
