It’s been a few weeks since we last checked in on the long-rumored mid-engine version of the Chevrolet Corvette. Since then, a slightly less-camouflaged version has been spotted out and about, giving us a better look at the overall shape of the front fascia, though the headlight configuration is still a mystery since these shots only show test lighting. Rumors are circulating that the mid-engine Vette will have an available twin-turbocharged V-8 capable of 900 to 1,000 horsepower, bringing it into supercar status. There’s still no official word on a scheduled debut, but the two best...
Chevy Blazer Beats Honda Passport

It’s March and everyone’s got bracket fever, including the folks over at MotorTrend who decided to create a bracket of eight vehicles to compete for Best Family Vehicle. The first round of their challenge sees the Chevy Blazer go head to head with another two-row, midsize crossover, the Honda Passport. MotorTrend was impressed by the Blazer’s Camaro-inspired style and performance, saying, “The Blazer is remarkably buttoned down and engaging to drive for the segment.” They also liked the Blazer’s spacious backseat and rear doors that open wide to make installing car seats and getting...
Could a Sporty Chevy Equinox SS Be Coming Soon?

We’ve seen enough camouflaged test vehicles in recent months to predict that a refreshed new look is coming soon to the Chevy Equinox. A new batch of spy photographs point toward an even more interesting possible future for the mid-size crossover. One of the Equinox test vehicles spotted at GM’s Milford proving grounds in Michigan featured quad exhaust tips. If those exhaust tips are there for good reason and not just decoys, it could mean a sporty, high-performance SS trim level could be coming soon to the Equinox. Other possible updates could include upgrading the current 6-speed...

New Spy Photos Reveal More of Chevy Trax Redesign

Last fall, we saw what appeared to be a redesigned Chevy Trax out for a test drive in heavy camouflage. This week, a convoy of the suspected 2020 Trax was spotted having shed a lot of the camouflage, giving us our first good look at its styling. The new Trax will definitely borrow a lot of design cues from its big brother in Chevy’s crossover lineup, the Blazer. The front end and rear spoiler mimic the Blazer’s sporty feel, and duel tailpipes on one of the vehicles in the convoy hints that we might see an extra-sporty trim…

Chevy Blazer Tops Ford Edge

Car and Driver magazine recently put the Chevy Blazer to the test in a head-to-head challenge against the Ford Edge in a battle of mid-size crossover SUVs, and we are pleased to report that the Blazer came out on top! C&D’s team preferred the Blazer’s Camaro-inspired exterior styling over the Edge’s dated, bulbous exterior. They also found the Blazer’s driving dynamics matched the sporty exterior, praising the body, brakes, steering and suspension on the road. The Blazer also outperformed the Edge on the track, chalking up a quicker 0 to 60 time, and a shorter…
Chevy Bolt Beats Nissan Leaf Head to Head

Kelley Blue Book recently put the Chevrolet Bolt EV to the test in a head-to-head competition with the Nissan Leaf, and we are pleased to report that the Bolt came out on top! Both vehicles operate solely on electric power, with the Bolt’s 238-mile, single-charge range showing a clear advantage over the Leaf’s 150-mile range. The Bolt also beats the Leaf in horsepower, at 200 hp versus the Leaf’s 147 hp, as well as in backseat leg and head room and cargo capacity. They also expect the Bolt to offer a higher resale value. KBB sums it…
Updated Chevy Equinox Spotted Testing

A heavily camouflaged version of the Chevy Equinox was recently spotted going for a test drive at GM’s Milford proving grounds in Michigan. After undergoing a highly-lauded redesign for the 2017 model year, it looks like the Equinox might be getting a refresh for 2020. The location of the camouflage suggests that both the front and rear ends will be getting updates, possibly adding some of the sporty, Camaro-inspired elements found on the Chevy Blazer. Other possible updates could include upgrading the current 6-speed automatic transmission to GM’s new 9-speed automatic, as well as...
