Today we celebrate the 85th birthday of the longest-running nameplate in the automotive industry, the Chevy Suburban. First introduced in 1935, with a 60 horsepower, six-cylinder engine, the Suburban was the precursor to modern SUVs. The original Suburban could seat eight or provide 115.1 cubic feet of cargo room with the seats removed. Today’s Suburban can seat up to nine, or offer 121.7 cubic feet of cargo room with the seats folded down. “While the world has changed significantly, the Suburban is just as relevant today as it was in 1935. Suburban created the sport utility vehicle – offering unprecedented combination of passenger comfort and cargo capacity,” said Paul Edwards, Chevrolet marketing vice president. “That has earned Suburban the trust of a wide range of people – from families to law enforcement, and even a starring-role in pop culture.” Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, Lansing & Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of Suburbans in stock now.
