While other automakers make dubious claims about their vehicles’ self-driving capabilities, General Motors has developed a hands-free driving system that makes safety the number one priority. Super Cruise, available in several Chevrolet vehicles including the Bolt EUV and higher trim levels of the Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Suburban, allows hands-free driving on most US expressways. The system uses OnStar maps and geolocation services, as well as real-time cameras, sensors, GPS and LiDAR map data to detect curves, making highway driving more comfortable for attentive drivers without sacrificing safety. To increase driver confidence in Super Cruise, GM has launched the “Hands Free, Eyes On” campaign, a consumer education program in the use of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). “We know that to help achieve our vision of zero crashes, we must increase the adoption of ADAS and proactively highlight the benefits they offer,” said Scott Miller, GM vice president, Software Defined Vehicle and Operating System. “To increase usage, we must help drivers understand how currently available technologies, like Super Cruise, work and the responsibility drivers have when using ADAS features. We want customers to be assured of what we are doing to safely deploy these technologies.” Phillips Chevrolet of Frankfort, Lansing, and Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory including a great selection of vehicles equipped with Super Cruise!
