General Motor’s initiative is to become an all-electric manufacturer by 2035 and in efforts to get there, they’ve been considering tapping into the baby pickup truck market in order to compete with trucks like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. The vehicle considered would be part of GM’s lineup of affordable EVs priced under $30,000 and would have a 4 – 4.5 ft long bed with a low roofline and two doors. Michael Pevovar, director of Chevrolet affordable EV and crossover design, stated that, “Affordability is the key portion of this, and there's lots of different ways to approach it." GM plans to rely heavily on customer feedback during these considerations in able to best determine practicality and affordability.
