Revealed late September of this year, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD introduces a mid-cycle refresh, bringing multiple exterior enhancements, an overhauled cabin, and upgraded technology. Among the upgraded technology is a new feature called GCW Alert, a system that will measure the gross combination weight while trailering. With the feature toggled on through the user’s trailer profile in the trailer app, the aid will predict the gross combination mass of the truck and trailer based on axle torque and vehicle acceleration. If the mass is predicated to be close or over the truck’s gross combined weight, the driver will be alerted through the driver information center with two different warnings – Yellow and Red. Yellow indicates that the weight of your trailer and cargo may exceed the vehicle’s GCW, whereas Red will show that you have exceeded your GCW. In addition, the 2024 Silverado HD will include three additional trailering aids – Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailer, Enhanced Transparent Trailer, and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert.
