Last month, Chevrolet unveiled the FNR—XE Concept in China to showcase the future of what Ultium-powered electric vehicles have to offer the market. While Chevrolet noted that this vehicle was custom developed for the Chinese market, there may be hope that we’ll see something similar in the United States. Days before the concept vehicle was unveiled in China, GM President Mark Reuss confirmed during the GM Investor Day presentation on November 17th, 2022 that Chevrolet is working on a “low-roof” midsize EV with “sedan-like proportions” - believing to having been referring to the FNR. When asked at the event about the prospect of US availability, Reuss stated, “This one’s coming a little bit later, and this is a Chevrolet version of it. It’s a ‘Car-D’ primarily for the Chinese market, and we’ll see the desirability as we clinic this.” If General Motors does green light an electric midsize sedan in North America, it’s unlikely to launch before at least 2025. The Chinese version is expected to debut by the end of 2024. While we can’t wait to find out more about a potential electric sedan, Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, Lansing and Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of current Chevrolet vehicles!
