Now that the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado has been revealed, it’s time to look at the engine lineup for this highly anticipated vehicle. The lineup consists of four engines, three of which are gas motors that include a turbo-charged four cylinder and two natural-aspirated eight-cylinder small blocks. The fourth engine is a turbo-diesel Duramax inline-six. The first engine is the 2.7L Turbo I4 with a towing capacity of 9,500 lbs. The second engine is a 5.3L V8 with a max towing capacity of 11,200 lbs. Finally, you have the 6.2L V8 and 3.0L I6 both allowing for 13,000 lbs to be towed, however the 3.0L I6 will be your turbo-diesel vehicle. All four engines are paired with either GM’s revised 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmissions. The base engine for the Silverado will be the 2.7L I4 turbocharged gasoline engine which GM said, “leads with more torque than any base engine in its class and has a maximum trailering rating of 9,600 pounds in a two-wheel drive configuration.” Phillips Chevrolet of Frankfort, Lansing and Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of Chevrolet trucks!
