Since it was first introduced in 2015, the Chevy Teen Driver system has been providing parents with a little extra peace of mind when their young drivers hit the road. The Teen Driver system gives teen drivers reminders to play it safe by triggering audio and visual reminders if the vehicle exceeds a maximum speed set by the parents, keeping the radio muted until the driver’s seatbelt is buckled, and providing parents with a scorecard of their child’s driving habits. For the 2020 model year, the Teen Driver system will be enhanced in several vehicles, including the Chevrolet Traverse, to include a new feature called “Buckle to Drive.” When activated, this system can prevent the driver from shifting the vehicle out of park until the driver’s seatbelt is buckled. “We saw an opportunity with Teen Driver to increase seatbelt use,” says Tricia Morrow, Chevy’s lead global safety engineer. “Safety is paramount. It’s at the center of everything we do. We always ask ourselves what we can do to prevent injuries and fatalities.” Phillips Chevrolet of Frankfort, Lansing and Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of Traverse now in stock.
