We’ve been seeing spy shots of an all-new, redesigned Chevrolet Silverado HD for a while now, so it should be unveiled soon. In the meantime, we have learned that the Silverado HD’s current Vortec 6.0L V8 L96 engine is expected to be replaced by a new 6.6L V8. The current engine provides 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, while the new engine is expected to reach 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque for an impressive boost in power, especially when it comes to towing. The Silverado HD’s diesel engine option is expected to stay the same with the 6.6L Duramax Diesel L5P which provides 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. A new transmission is expected to accompany both gas and diesel engines, but no details have been released yet.
