When you think about environmentally friendly vehicles, full size pickup trucks like the Chevy Silverado might not be the first vehicle to spring to mind. But when you think about the overall effect of improved fuel economy in a vehicle as popular as the Silverado, the cumulative fuel (and emissions) savings really add up. Drivers replacing a 2009 5.3-liter V8 Silverado with a 2019 Silverado using a new 5.3L V8 and six-speed transmission will save 4.4 million gallons a year for every 100,000 pickups sold. And considering Chevy sold 585,000 Silverados last year, that’s more than 25 million gallons saved. “Fuel economy is a top priority,” 2019 Silverado global vehicle performance manager Mike Strickhouser said. “It’s critical, to the program and to our customers.” Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, Lansing and Bradley has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a huge selection of Silverados with more 2019s arriving every day.
