One surprising feature on the new Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD is the use of the Chevy “flowtie,” first seen on the Camaro Z/28. Whether it’s on a high performance sports car or a powerful work truck, the flowtie replaces the traditional solid bowtie decorating the grille with only the bowtie outline. This maximizes airflow to the engine, reducing fluid temperatures and improving performance. “Chevy’s designers and engineers were obsessed with making this Silverado the most customer-focused medium-duty truck among its major competitors — and this is evident in every design decision,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet.
