You probably already know that the Chevy Silverado 1500 is a great truck for tasks of all sizes, but how do you determine which configuration is the best for a really big job? The absolute maximum a Silverado 1500 can tow is 13,300 pounds, but only if you choose the Silverado Crew Cab Short Bed 2WD equipped with 20-inch wheels, the Max Trailering Package, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine. This configuration is available on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trim levels. If you prefer a double cab, you can get the same 13,300 pounds max towing by choosing the same wheels, package, and engine, but only at the LT trim level, or you can go with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine in the LT or RST trim. Please note that these towing figures are all quote with use of a ball hitch - using a 5th-wheel or gooseneck hitch with lower the max towing figure to 10,300 pounds. Of course, if you need to tow an even heavier load, you can upgrade to a Silverado 2500 which maxes out at 22,500 pound of towing.
