Ever since rumors began circulating that the 8th generation Chevrolet Corvette would be mid-engine, enthusiasts have speculated about what performance variants might be available. Now that the mid-engine Corvette is a reality, some of the speculation and rumors have been proven true, thanks to a leaked document that lays out the C8 Corvette’s future. It should come as no surprise that a Corvette Z06 is on the way, expected in 2022. The Z06 will feature a 5.5-liter dual-overhead cam V8 engine, capable of 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. That will be followed in 2023 by the Grand Sport which will boast the same 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine in the base Stingray, but may also feature a hybrid system that adds 105 horsepower to the base 495 hp. 2024 should bring us the ZR1, with Z06’s 5.5-liter DOHC V8, but with a twin-turbo system that boosts power to 850 hp and 825 lb-ft of torque. The ZR1 has traditionally been the top-of-the-line Corvette, but rumors and this document suggest that another variant named Zora, after early Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, could produce a whopping 1,000 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque thanks to a hybridized version of the LT7 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. We can’t wait to see if these predictions come true as we continue to bring you the latest Corvette news right here in this blog.
