Pontiac G8 fans take note: the 2014 Chevrolet SS performance sedan is set to arrive in Chevy showrooms late in 2013, GM announced today. The highly anticipated four-door will wear the SS, or Super Sport also will serve as Chevrolet’s NASCAR Sprint Cup car, debuting at the 2013 Daytona 500. In the meantime, the 2014 SS model will be built in Australia alongside an updated version of the Holden VF Commodore. The Chevy SS will use a shorter wheelbase and, of course, come with a V-8 engine under the hood.
Also ,Standard and available options should include the Chevrolet MyLink connectivity system, HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, quad exhausts, and Brembo brakes. Branded as a Chevy, it should have a chance at long-term success. The new four-door marks the first time since the B-Body Chevy Caprice and Impala SS were discontinued in 1996 that Chevy will offer a rear-drive sedan in the U.S.

To demonstrate 10 common mistakes drivers make that affect their fuel economy, Chevrolet and Phillips Chevrolet recently drove two identical Chevrolet Cruze LTs, which the EPA estimates get 24 , mpg city, and 36 mpg highway. For the route, they drove both cars for 20 minutes, including city and highway driving, as well as a coffee shop. The results show that sweating the small stuff could save drivers as much as $100 a month in fuel costs. Driver A averaged 37 miles per gallon using efficient driving habits in a properly maintained Cruze. Driving inefficiently and ignoring common maintenance. Driver B managed only 21 miles per gallon. The difference Driver B would get 250 fewer miles per tank of gas while Driver A would save $100 a month – or $1,200 a year assuming 15,000 miles and $4 a gallon for gas.

A 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will lead the starting field of the 96th Indianapolis 500 to the green flag Sunday, May 27 at the Indianapolis motor speedway. With 638 horsepower, the Corvette ZR1 is the most powerful production car ever to pace the race. Expect Chevy’s next-generation small-block to displace close to 5.5 liters and produce close to 440 hp in base form. That engine will likely boast both cylinder deactivation and direct fuel injection.
