As the popularity of electric powered vehicles like the Chevrolet Volt grows, the need for places that charge them also grows, a topic addressed in an article appearing on the home webpage of the Chicago Tribune today. Both Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel have vowed to make our area among the greenest in the nation, and Phillips Chevrolet is proud to be leading the “charge” with our free solar charging station. Phillips sales manager Mark Catuara told the Tribune, "We charge 10 vehicles twice a day without ever using a drop of electricity." If you already own an electric vehicle, come out and try our solar charging station – and if you don’t, come out for a test drive of a Chevy Volt to see how easy and fun it can be to drive green!

A new TV commercial shows off one of the many features available in a Chevrolet Equinox that you might not have thought you needed, but will wonder how you lived without. The Equinox boasts an available programmable power liftgate which can be set to open to whatever height you specify, allowing you to make sure it never rises so high that it gets scraped and dinged by your garage door’s hardware. Tall folks can set it high enough to avoid those painful head bumps when reaching in for cargo, and shorter folks can set it so that it never rises out of their reach. And as the ad points out, it’s a feature found in the Chevy Equinox that isn’t offered by the competition.

Phillips Chevrolet is proud to support the Lincoln Way Transition House program which helps local special needs students make the transition from school to adult life. In the transition house, students learn valuable skills such as managing personal finances, nutrition and meal planning, and how to search and interview for a job. The folks at the LWTH were kind enough to honor Phillips Chevrolet and sales consultant Happy Bettenhausen at a recent luncheon where they also presented us with the award pictured. If you would like to learn more about the LWTH, please visit www.lwase843.org.

Coming next fall for the 2015 model year, Chevrolet has introduced a new small cargo van – the 2015 Chevy City Express. The City Express will be perfect for businesses looking to transport the tools of their trade who don’t need the power of a full size Express van, and who would like a more fuel efficient vehicle to reduce operating costs. “Our fleet customers have asked us for a small cargo van, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position as the partner of choice for all of our customers,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial Sales. Stay tuned to this blog for more information about the Chevrolet City Express as it becomes available.

Everyone here at Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, Illinois was excited to get our first look at the new redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala when it arrived in our showroom last month. That excitement was shared by Ed Curran of Chicago’s CBS-2 news team who took the new Impala out for a test drive with cameras rolling. Ed was impressed with the Impala’s smooth ride, joking that the city must have fixed all the potholes because he couldn’t feel them. He also applauds the sedan’s many luxurious features inside and out, as well as the spaciousness of the back seat and trunk. Check out the video and then come in and see us for your own 2014 Chevy Impala test drive – you’ll be impressed, too!
