• Big Celebrations at Phillips Chevrolet

    10/1/2014 4:17:14 PM - by Amy Riley

Today we celebrated two big milestones: Phillips Chevrolet’s 46th anniversary and Phillips Chevrolet of Lansing’s one year anniversary. Both dealerships celebrated by having cake and taking pictures to remember the important day, and to thank the Phillips team for all of their hard work. In 1968, Phillips Chevrolet was founded by Phil Pascarella and was located under the water tower in downtown Frankfort. By 1970 they moved the dealership to its current location and it has been expanding ever since.  Philips Chevy is the #1 selling Chevy Dealership in the state of Illinois for 8 consecutive years! Phillips Chevrolet of Lansing started just last year and it is currently undergoing a huge renovation. The results are impressive for Lansing as large improvements have been made in just one year! Phillips Chevrolet would like to thank you for all of your support these past years and for helping to make us two of the top dealerships in the state! Stop on by either location to check out our large selection of new and used cars!

  • Camouflaging New Chevrolet Volt is Balancing Act

    9/30/2014 4:28:05 PM - by Amy Riley

The styling of the next-generation Chevy Volt is one of the automotive world’s best-kept secrets, keeping customers and media eager to see the reveal at the North American International Auto Show in January. One of the hardest parts of maintaining the mystery is the responsibility of the engineers charged with creating camouflage that balances styling secrets with the need to validate the Chevrolet Volt and its systems in public. The engineers are responsible for the “cool” designs, but their efforts are intended to strictly hide the metal beneath.  Some of their tricks include black and white patterns that create shadows and hide vehicle design elements, as well as layering camouflage to throw off onlookers. They also have swirls in the pattern so if a piece is removed, it is not hard to realign a new piece as it will blend in with the rest of the swirls. GM camouflage engineer, Lionel Perkins said, “Each car is unique. We are like a dress maker, and the car is our model. No two models are the same.” New tricks are constantly added to the design to keep spy photographers and curious customers guessing! We can’t wait to see the finished product of the next-generation Chevy Volt here at Phillips Chevrolet!

  • Chevy Camaro Z/28 Named Best Driver’s Car

    9/26/2014 4:14:34 PM - by Amy Riley

A few days ago we outlined Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car competition and how the Chevy Camaro Z/28 ranked against its competitors. Well the results are in and the Z/28 walked away with the gold medal! The judges were especially impressed with the Camaro’s confidence on the track.  With razor-sharp steering, Recaro racing seats, and a 7.0L V8 engine, the judges had no complaints. One judge even said, “it feels as though the car is bowling right through the bumps and actively flattening the road as it goes, as if the car is punishing the road for punishing you!” The grip of the Camaro Z/28 let these judges put the pedal to the metal and they said they weren’t afraid to ‘just go for it’ in the track tested muscle car. Simply put, the Z/28 is a car in which how hard you smile is directly correlated to how hard you’re driving it and that’s why it came away with the top award. Stop by Phillips Chevrolet to see our large selection of Camaros, including in-stock Z/28’s, so you too, can experience the Best Driver’s Car of the year!

  • ‘Toughnology’ Concept Shows Silverado’s Built-In Strength

    9/25/2014 4:33:21 PM - by Amy Riley

High-strength steel makes the Chevy Silverado lighter, stronger and more efficient than the conventional carbon steel used in most vehicles. Those attributes are highlighted in the new Silverado Toughnology concept vehicle. Executive chief engineer Jeff Luke said a lot of thought and experimentation went into choosing the materials to provide the best strength in the Silverado: “The technology of advanced high-strength steel makes the Chevrolet Silverado stronger, lighter, more capable and more efficient – and that’s exactly what the Toughnology concept represents.” The Toughnology concept is striking for its stripped-down appearance with the paint job mimicking the look of raw, unpainted steel with steel molecule graphic accents. The hood is actually the only visible metal exterior component that isn’t steel!  Like the 2015 Silverados arriving here at Phillips Chevrolet, the Silverado Toughnology also includes OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless phone-charging mat. With Chevrolet Accessory 22-inch wheels, heated seats, and a performance exhaust system, this truck has the complete package!
