Although we are patiently awaiting the arrival of the 2015 Chevy Cruze coming later this fall to Phillips Chevrolet, new changes have already been announced for the North American-market 2016 Chevy Cruze. The next generation Cruze has some distinct differences compared to the Chinese-market 2016 Cruze. One of the biggest distinctions is the front fascia. The North American model has sharper corners and the Chevrolet Bow Tie will sit on a body-colored piece that separates the top and bottom grille treatment instead of the Bow Tie positioned on the upper grille in the Chinese version. The North American model will also have a hatchback body style and OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi while the Chinese-market models will not. These are the only differences that have already been noted, but we expect more small differences between the models when the all-new 2016 Chevy Cruze is officially announced at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is the talk of the town these days, being the only GM product included in this year’s Road & Track Performance Car of the Year test. R&T gathers a group of the year’s best new performance offerings, thrashes them around their Michigan Mile private racetrack, and posts the results for everyone to see. Last year the focus was on the C7 Corvette Stingray, but this year GM’s weapon proves to be the Chevy Camaro Z/28. The Z/28 already beat out the 991 Porsche 911 Turbo S, the Audi R8 V10 Plus and Chevrolet’s own Corvette Stingray at the Virginia International Raceway in Car and Driver’s recent Lightning Lap test. Even more impressive is that the 740 horsepower Ferrari F12 Berlinetta beat the Z/28 by only .1 second, and there’s nothing with that much power in the upcoming R&T’s Performance Car test. General Motors is excited to see how the Z/28 stacks up against top competitors like the Porsche 911 GT3 and GT-R Nismo. However, if we had to bet we would place all our money on the Z/28!

Eight Team Chevy drivers have been solidified to compete in this year’s expanded 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup which consists of three elimination rounds and a one-race finish. The Chase officially begins this weekend in our own backyard at the Chicagoland Speedway. Team Chevy includes all the big race names like second seed, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and even Ryan Newman who clinched one of the final sports in the Chase for the Championship. Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet SS recently finished second at Richmond International Raceway. Gordon is looking forward to the upcoming Chase and is hoping to build off of his momentum. “We’re excited to get this thing started,” he said. “This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time, and it’s because of this race team and the race cars we’ve had.” Here at Phillips Chevrolet we will be cheering on all eight Team Chevy drivers as they begin competing this weekend! Go Team Chevy!
The Chevrolet Trax, the new small sporty SUV, doesn’t go on sale until January 2015, but if you are driving around Detroit, you may have already seen one! The Chevrolet Trax is using some Greater Detroit hot spots as backdrops for its advertising in advance of going on sale. Taking photos in the heart of Detroit only feels right since this SUV is designed as a city commuter vehicle agile enough to maneuver city streets. At 167.2 inches long the Trax is also perfect for small parking spots. So far the Trax has been spotted on Michigan Avenue, where Commonwealth/McCann is shooting catalog and other photography. We also got word that the Trax will be taking a ride down Belle Isle, near Shinola custom watchmaker and in Campus Martius for more advertising shots. Here at Phillips Chevrolet we can’t wait for the delivery of our first Trax early next year!
